Squirk

Terms of Use

Last updated July 2026 · Version 1

These terms are the agreement between you and Meridian Strategy Studio LLC ("Squirk", "we", "us"), which operates the Squirk app. Squirk is a spelling app for young children (around ages 4–8), so the account belongs to a parent or guardian, not the child. Please read this before you subscribe.

Who can use Squirk

You must be 18 or older to create an account and agree to these terms. You confirm you are the parent or legal guardian of each child you add, and that you consent to Squirk collecting the limited information described in our Privacy Notice for them. Children do not create accounts and cannot agree to these terms themselves.

What Squirk provides

Squirk gives your child adaptive spelling practice, hints, and progress tracking, plus a dashboard where you can follow how they are getting on. We may improve, add, or retire features over time.

Your free trial

New accounts start with a free trial with all features unlocked. We do not ask for a payment method to begin the trial, and nothing is charged during it. When the trial ends, practice pauses until you choose a subscription. There is no free tier after the trial.

Subscriptions and billing

Refunds

Purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds are managed by Apple under their terms. You can request one through your App Store purchase history. We cannot issue refunds for App Store purchases directly, but tell us if something went wrong and we will help where we can.

Your account

Keep your sign-in details and parent PIN private. The PIN protects the grown-up area, where account and subscription settings live. You are responsible for activity on your account, including practice by the children you add.

Fair use

Please do not:

Who owns what

Squirk and its content (the word lists, hints, characters, artwork, and software) belongs to us, and you get a personal, non-transferable licence to use it for your family. Your child's progress data belongs to you; you can export or delete it at any time.

Privacy

How we handle your family's information, including the microphone and your child's voice, is explained in the Privacy Notice, which forms part of these terms.

Availability

We work to keep Squirk running, but we cannot promise it will always be available or error free. We may pause the service for maintenance, and we may change or discontinue features. If we withdraw a paid feature you are actively paying for, we will give you notice.

Limits on our liability

Squirk is a practice tool, not a diagnosis, assessment, or replacement for teaching or professional support. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or unforeseeable losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the month before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

Ending these terms

You can stop using Squirk and delete your account at any time from the grown-up area. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms or puts children or the service at risk. If we end your account without cause, we will refund any unused paid period.

App Store terms

Because you downloaded Squirk from the Apple App Store, the following also apply. Apple requires these, and they are written in Apple's terms rather than ours.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we will update the version and date above and tell you in the app. Continuing to use Squirk after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Contact us

Send any questions, complaints, or claims about Squirk to us, not to Apple. Message us in the app under Settings → Contact support, or reach us at:
